Karla Today,
A Sugery Gone Bad!!

Here are three current photo's of Karla now in 2004

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to be able to see what Karla’s abdomen looks like without a rectus muscle, you just have to look at this picture.  You can see her intestines straining against the skin and pushing out through the ostomy.  Well,  her surgeon of all surgeons, Dr. Schulte of Froedert Medical in Milwaukee, Wisconsins, who did most of her 24 laporotomies, was looking at her CT pictures, his back was to her and I, and as he slowly shook his head he said.." Wow, you really don't have much rectus muscle left, good thing you have adhesions so that your intestines don't push out any further!"

I was livid when he then followed up by saying, " Good thing adhesions don't cause pain, your lucky about that!"

I won't go into what occurred in that office after he said that..all I will say is that at one brief moment during the surgeon and my ..a hem, conversation, I looked at Karla, and she was sitting there with a hand on each cheek with her eyes wide and mouth wide open!! ( As I am sure people in the hallway and waiting room were doing as well!!  Maybe as far away as on the elevator too now that I think about it!)
